Following a successful Series A funding round in 2023, Mob-Energy, a pioneer in sustainable electric mobility, celebrated the inauguration of its first plant in Vénissieux, in the presence of its customers, partners and employees.

A concrete commitment to sustainable mobility

Expectations in the sustainable mobility sector are growing all the time, and it’s time to take concrete action. That’s why, in 2023, Mob-Energy set out to grow and industrialise. The opportunity arose to join the USIN Lyon Parilly site and we are proud to be able to launch our first production unit integrated with our head office in this benchmark location for French industry.

A strategic site for local, replicable production

Mob-Energy has chosen to set up its first plant in Vénissieux, on the former site of the Bosch factories, which has become the totem of industry in the Lyon metropolitan area. Occupying a 1,600 m2 building, the site houses a production area, offices and an area dedicated to R&D and battery management.

We quickly realised that we wanted to focus our business project on Made in France, and even Made in Lyon.

The USIN Lyon Parilly industrial site will be used to refine a production model for the reconditioning of used batteries, and will reach a production capacity of 50 units this year.

In the long term, this replicable production model will enable us to increase our production capacity by adding new cells, as well as facilitating the export of our solutions to other countries.

A springboard for internationalisation

With an annual production capacity of around 50 Eiko per year in 2024 (equivalent to 5MWh of reconditioned batteries and 750 charging points), the factory’s objective is to triple its capacity every year until at least 2026. This first plant will serve as a pilot site for devising, testing and improving the manufacturing processes best suited to mass production.

This replicable production model also responds to the challenges of internationalisation, and the question of exporting the production tool rather than the product will find its answer in this first plant.
